The Harvard Sailing Team made a lot of friends last night at the Charleston Comedy Fest. And after we had recovered from our fits of hilarity, we were invited to vote for the New York ensemble. They’ve been nominated for Best Sketch Comedy Group by the city’s ECNY Awards. To win one of these is a prestigious honor. How good is the Harvard Sailing? Should they get your vote? Let me put it this way. The one sketch, in which three men appeared to bearing the tedium of their three wives twaddling about world travel, was funny. But when the three husbands began barking like male seals lying on the beach, I was bent over. I couldn’t breath. The cramps were that bad. You had to be there, I guess. And if you were, you know you should vote for the Harvard Sailing Team. For more, go to www.ecnyawards.com. Oh, and they perform again tonight at 8 p.m. at the Charleston Ballet Theatre’s King Street studios.

There's more to art than you think. It's not just theater, paintings, books and dance. It's the enterprise of human creativity and it takes vastly different shapes and forms. Here you'll find my thoughts about the arts in Charleston and beyond. Neither of us knows what to expect.
